Job Description:

Directs QA Technicians to ensure compliance with raw materials and packaging specifications and finished product standards. Authorizes exception or rejection of materials after thorough analysis of material and how it relates to specifications, regulations and product performance; Develops and directs implementation of process and product improvements to achieve product quality, consistency, and cost control.; Participates as a key facilitator for the implementation of Corporate and Plant Total Quality process.
Plans and conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with appropriate quality, regulatory and process standards specifications and procedures.
As HACCP Coordinator will be responsible for updating and maintaining it’s programs to include physically verifying HACCP critical control points in addition to completing documents and maintaining accurate record controls for the entire HACCP program.
Education/Experience:
B.S. degree in Food Science with at least four to five years of experience in the food industry to include two/three years in a supervisory capacity.

cost, for testing alternate ingredient vendors, for defining specifications
and standards, for maintenance of a clean, organized work area,
accurate lab records and R&D team commitment.
This position must handle multiple project demands and deadlines,
organizing workload while maintaining accurate, detailed documentation
of tasks and results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product development and Product Improvements:
- Develop new products according to projects briefs as assigned
- Organized tasks and responsibilities to meet project deadlines
- Keep accurate records of lab work, documentation of ingredients
used, formulation modifications
- Participate in planning, monitoring and documenting plant
trials and initial plants runs for successful commercialization
of new products
- Work with the R&D team to identify and develop concepts
for new products
- Reformulate products of processes as assigned for product
improvement, cost reduction process improvement and waste reduction
- Participate in sensory evaluation of R&D projects, new
products, reformulations, ingredient substitutions and competitive
product evaluations
- Supervise 1-2 Food Technicians
Technology / Operations support
- In cooperation with project team, define processing parameters
for new products or for improvements to existing products or
processes or to reduce waste
- With assistance from quality Assurance, define products specifications;
analytical, physical, organoleptic and microbial
- Define process parameters for new products and to improve
production efficiencies for existing products
Cost Reduction:
Test raw materials finished products as assigned to reduce product
cost without compromising product quality
- Identify opportunities to reduce raw materials SKU's
Sales & Marketing Support
- Assist in product demonstrations and cuttings as needed
- Work with customers as needed in new product development
and reformulations
- Maintain awareness of current trends in consumer buying, retail
and foodservice markets and “hot” food flavor trends
R & D
- Maintain clean, organized lab and work areas
- Track R & D waste
- Perform other duties in support of department or company needs
as requested
- Job Requirements:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects; manage to established
deadlines
- Able to supervise and maintain a workload of hourly personnel
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform with minimal
supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of personnel
through verbal, written and electronic modes
Education
B.S degree in Food science and 1 to 3 years experience in the food
industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
